St. Francis Xavier Church Compound
15 August 2011
Sitting within the World Heritage site of George Town, the living quarters of Tamil Catholics in the St. Francis Xavier Church at Penang Rd is facing eviction.
3 of their 6 pre-war old quarter buildings there are partially demolished by removing the roof structure (without Municipal Council’s approval) and causing the houses to rot internally. The neighbouring tenants have reported dengue cases.
