Local author Toh Teong Chuan is an enthusiastic researcher and collector of traditional Hokkien rhymes, and in 2011 he published the book, Hokkien Nursery Rhymes in Old Penang.

He joined us for a Saturday afternoon to talk to us about the various types of dialect rhymes, their characteristics and values, how and why rhymes are collected and edited, as well as the challenges he faced in collecting data for publication. The talk was in Mandarin (plus rhymes in Hokkien!)
