Penang Heritage Trust Site Visit 2017: Penang House of Music

A celebration of Penang’s glorious musical heritage and cultural diversity with carefully curated exhibitions and interactive features. It showcases among many things, Penang’s popular music from the 1940s-1960s, a feature on communal music, a recreation of a radio booth and cinema, and many others! Also available is a resource center where visitors may discover an ever-growing vinyl collection, newspaper clippings, previously unreleased recordings, audio and video interviews and many, many more.
The Penang House of Music will feature a black box (a performance space), a permanent exhibition and a resource centre. Located in KOMTAR, it aims to provide for the past, present and future, to celebrate and acknowledge the wonderful and strong musical heritage contributed to not only Penang’s but Malaysia’s past, to inform and garner appreciation with the archival platform for the present, and to inspire future generations through collaborative programs and activities with schools and their research departments.
There will also be a special live musical performance at 3pm!
Directions to Penang House of Music
From KOMTAR Level 3:
Please proceed to entrance of ICT Digital Mall (opposite KFC Restaurant). Turn left inside the entrance and walk straight until you reach the escalators. The escalator will lead you directly to the entrance on Level 4
From Prangin Mall or First Avenue Mall:
Please take link bridge towards KOMTAR Level 3. At the end of the bridge are escalators that will lead you directly to our entrance on Level 4.
