PHT 30th Anniversary: Free Film Screening – Indochine

[FOR MEMBERS ONLY]

PENANG HERITAGE TRUST 30th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS PRESENTS: FREE FILM SCREENINGS 2016: INDOCHINE

Penang Heritage Trust invites members of the Trust to attend a free film screening of Indochine. This free film screening is part of our 30th anniversary celebration programmes and is exclusive to members of the Trust only.

Indochine tells the story of a plantation owner Eliane Devries (Catherine DeNeuve) living in 1930s Vietnam. Eliane, together with her widowed father and adopted daughter, encounters love, separation and loss amidst the nationalist uprising in Vietnam.

The film won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award in 1993 for Best Foreign Language Film, and Catherine DeNeuve was nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture in the Academy Award.

Although film primarily in Vietnam, several locations in Penang were also chosen as sets for the production. The iconic Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion along Leith Street, the Crag Hotel on Penang Hill and a base in Butterworth were used as replacement for scenes in Saigon.

This free film screening is only for members of the Trust, and reservations can be made with info@pht.org.my or via telephone to +604 264 2631. Seats are limited.
