PHT Site Visit: Kelawai Road Catholic Cemetery

PHT SITE VISIT: KELAWAI ROAD CATHOLIC CEMETERY

Date: Sunday, 12 January 2014, 3.30pm

PHT invited members & guests to visit to the Kelawei Road Catholic Cemetery. The cemetery has significant heritage value not only to the Church of the Immaculate Conception Pulau Tikus but also for the pioneering evangelization efforts of the Catholic Church in general. On the spot which is marked by the cenotaph was the first Tent-Church of the Immaculate Conception. The graves were around the Tent-Church.

Guest speaker:-
Datuk Dr. Anthony E. Sibert, D.S.P.N., P.J.K., a retired senior lecturer of the School of Education, Universiti Sains Malaysia, is currently the Dean of Continuing Education and Training for the Olympia/Raffles Education Group of Colleges in Malaysia. He has been involved with matters concerning the Eurasian Malaysian community at state and national levels. Of special interest to him is the historical development of his community.
